A pottery class where every project can be different
In Open Studio, not everyone works on the same piece. Each student can develop their own projects and learn the techniques needed to bring them to life.
You might be building a mug with slabs while someone else is making a vase with coils and another student is glazing a finished piece. Ravit guides each process and adapts her support to the student’s level and project.
If you're starting from scratch
We recommend taking the Intro to Pottery Workshop first so you can become familiar with clay and the basics of the ceramic process.
If you already have experience
You can join directly and develop your own projects with guidance during the class.
Your project shapes what you learn
Techniques are introduced according to what you want to make, in a practical way that is directly connected to the project you are working on.
Pottery techniques you can learn in Open Studio
Hand-building, decorating and glazing are all part of the regular class work.
Hand-building
Learn to build pieces directly by hand and understand how clay behaves throughout the process.
Pinching, coiling and slab building
Three fundamental hand-building techniques for creating different forms, from simple vessels to more complex pieces.
Textures and decoration
Explore relief, texture and decorative finishes using slips and other materials available in the studio.
Glazing and personal projects
Learn to finish your own pieces with glazes and develop projects suited to your interests and experience level.
From an idea to a piece made by you
Personal projects, real techniques
In Open Studio you can work on functional or decorative pieces: mugs, bowls, vases, trays, plates, planters or more experimental projects.
Pieces up to approximately 35 × 35 cm are included in the monthly membership. Larger projects must be discussed in advance and may involve an additional fee.
Can you also use the pottery wheel?
For students with previous experience only
The pottery wheel is available only to students who already know how to work independently on the wheel.
There are 6 pottery wheels for a maximum of 8 students. Access depends on availability, and there is no specific time limit during the class.
Open Studio does not teach wheel throwing from scratch. If you want to learn this technique, our dedicated Wheel Throwing classes are the right place to start.
What Open Studio includes

Firings are included for pieces made within the usual scope of the classes. Large-scale projects may involve an additional fee.
What happens to your pieces after each class
A piece may require several sessions and different stages before it is finished: building, drying, bisque firing, decorating or glazing, and the final firing.
Each student glazes their own pieces as part of the learning process, with guidance during class.
The full process usually takes around 3–4 weeks, depending on drying time and the studio firing schedule.
